Sunday morning in Tonopah at St. Mark’s Episcopal church, a very interesting and unusual service was held by Rev. Sebastian Dabovich, archimandrite of the Greek church of North America. Holy communion was celebrated for Serbian residents according to the elaborate ritual of the priest, heavy with gold and silver embroidery, the candles, the incense, the strange, barbaric chanting of the worshipers, all combined to impress the congregation.1
This is a digital edition of Beacon from the Bay: The Collected Works of Saint Sebastian Dabovich of Jackson and San Francisco, a several-month-long project to catalogue the out-of-print works of Saint Sebastian Dabovich, the first American-born Orthodox priest.
